CO2 Meters
Measuring air quality is essential for certain industrial sectors, especially if we focus on the issue of safety towards people.
Excess carbon dioxide in the air affects people's health, concentration and well-being. Carbon dioxide is produced by the combustion of oil or coal. The human body is constituted in such a way that it produces carbon dioxide in metabolic processes and is eliminated through the lungs. That's why it's important in enclosed spaces, where people are present.
Carbon dioxide is not toxic, but it can cause difficulty in oxygen absorption and concentration, headaches and fatigue. In schools, universities, hospitals and other institutions the value of CO2 should always be controlled by the number of people there over a longer period of time.
Carbon dioxide affects the human body, even in small doses. Even at concentrations starting at 0.3% in ambient air it can be harmful to health. If the percentage rises to 5%, it can lead to headaches and dizziness. 8% or more lead to loss of consciousness or even death.
CO2 as an extinguishing agent is commonly used in processing centers in factories, as well as in ATEX areas.
The CO2 meter protects from colourless and odorless gases that are hazardous to health, and which are used in the food industry, in the metallurgical industry, in chemical processes and in waste management.
Having a CO2 meter to control the amount of carbon dioxide in the air is also essential to know if the environment of an enclosed space such as restaurants, school classrooms, hospital waiting rooms, among other places, is healthy. The approved CO2 meters have become a very important tool for the prevention of the spread of Covid-19.
In novaut we have several types of CO2 meters. This equipment will accurately provide the concentration of carbon dioxide in the environment and proceed to the ventilation of the spaces.
When is it necessary to ventilate?
In any enclosed space, the concentration of CO2 grows as time passes and the air is not renewed. It has been shown that inside bars, restaurants, classrooms and offices where the concentration of people is high, reaching more than 1000 ppm of CO2 in an enclosed space. However, a concentration of 800 ppm means that 1% of the air one person breathes in has already been exhaled by another person.
Where to use an air quality meter?
To use it, it is advisable to put it in a central place of the room, where several environments converge, as well as keep it away from doors and windows to obtain more accurate data on the concentration of CO2.
To use a CO2 meter and check the air quality, keep in mind that suspended dust and humidity can influence the measurement results.
