NIHON KASETSU - specialists in monitoring and early warning systems - have developed a PATLITE LR7 type beacon with detection/signaling of CO2 levels and communication with mobile devices via Bluetooth for data monitoring. This solution is an effective tool within the prevention and action protocols based on air quality/saturation and COVID19 plans. The Visual CO2 takes samples of the air through the lower holes of the main body and is analyzed by the NDIR sensor. This sensor determines the amount of CO2 present in the sample based on the amount of infrared light absorbed by the CO2 molecules. Depending on the particle concentration value, the LED elements of the beacon are illuminated.

This device is designed as an aid to maintain a clean and well-ventilated environment and thus minimize the risk of contagion of aerosol-borne diseases such as COVID-19. The installation of the device must be in a representative place of the cabin in which the air quality is to be controlled, that is:
- The flow of air around the device should be ensured (do not place in corners, behind curtains or doors, etc.).
- The ideal height of the device (from the base) is between 80cm and 150cm.
- Avoid as far as possible direct air flows (windows, doors, air conditioners, fans ...).
In addition, a CO2-laden environment reduces people's cognitive abilities as has been shown in scientific studies. Another benefit of controlling the amount of CO2 in the environment is the optimization of ventilation protocols, being able to save energy by adjusting the renewal times of the indoor air.
