The strobe is an instrument that emits powerful light flashes at precisely spaced intervals. In dark environments, the human eye quickly gets used to the succession of intense flashes, and only records the moments when the environment is illuminated. If these conditions occur in the presence of a moving object, it will appear that a succession of still images of the object are being viewed, which will correspond to the moments in which the luminous flashes are emitted.

The more intense the light and the faster the sequence of flashes, the more accurate the measurement results.

For daily activity, it is important that the strobe allows flexible use. The handheld strobe will allow you to check the operation of machines and components on site. Many sectors require accurate measurements of rotational speed:

Measure speed with a strobe

In order to determine the rotational speed of a machine, a marker is used that, if the movement is homogeneous, will be displayed again and again in the same place at the same time. If the rhythm of the marker is matched to the bright flash of the strobe,both will be displayed at the same time. This will result in the result that the resulting image will always be exactly the same. The observer will have the feeling that the movement stops.

Knowing the structure of the machine, as well as the details about the marker and the sequence of flashes, it is possible to accurately determine the rotational speed of the machine. It is also possible to know if the rotational speed of a machine has varied.

This type of measurement is carried out both portablely and stationaryly. The portable handheld strobe allows you to flexibly and on-site verify different machines and components.

Above all, an instrument that is used in a portable way must also have a battery with great autonomy, since the use requires a lot of power. Insufficient battery capacity will significantly minimize usage time.
