Air quality not only plays an important role in human well-being, but also in biological, chemical and physical processes. Many different gases, vapors and dusts – even if they are produced by natural processes – can contribute to reduced air quality. To measure air quality, special air quality meters are used whose sensors are adapted to the respective environmental conditions. For example, with an air quality meter the following measured variables are usually measured: Carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration, temperature, humidity, formaldehyde (CH2O occasionally also known as HCHO), volatile organic compounds (TVOC) and fine dust through the number of particles for different particle sizes, for example, PM 1; PM 2.5; PM10.

To monitor indoor air quality in indoor spaces such as classrooms, offices, and homes, an air quality meter that measures both the carbon dioxide content and the temperature and humidity of indoor air should be used. Especially in relatively new buildings with dense wrapping for energy efficiency reasons, attention should be paid to ventilation as needed. Ventilation systems do not usually have a third layer of filtration that can filter out potentially viral aerosols. An air quality measuring device with a traffic light indicator indicates whether ventilation with the colors green/yellow/red is needed for carbon dioxide content.

The level of carbon dioxide increases due to the respiration of the people present and is therefore also a guide value of the number of viruses that can be introduced into the ambient air by respiration. Regardless of the number of people, air quality meters should also be able to measure formaldehyde, volatile organic compounds, or fine dusts in some rooms due to the structural equipment or materials used in the room. If a measured value rises suddenly, not only can the room be ventilated, but the source of the emissions can also be clarified.

The air quality meter measures dust concentrations with size PM 2.5 and PM 10. The measurement values of the air quality meter are indicated on a high-brightness color display. The values are presented on the screen in the colors green, yellow, red, and pink. Thanks to this type of display of the air quality meter you can easily identify the limit values. In addition, the current temperature and relative humidity is indicated. The air quality meter is powered through an internal accumulator and by a USB connection.

Air Quality Meter

The air quality meter has been developed to measure and monitor indoor or indoor air quality. The PCE-RCM 15 air quality meter measures the following parameters: PM1, PM2.5, PM10, TVOC, formaldehyde, temperature and relative humidity. All parameters are displayed on the large screen.
