They allow to detect metallic and non-metallic objects; however, they are normally used with non-metallic materials in: Plastic industry: Resins, chips or molded products. Agriculture: Feed, solid or granulated substances. Timber industry: Sawdust, paper, door and window frames. Materials are detected by their dielectric constant. The larger the object, the higher its density and the better it is detected. The detection distance of a capacitive sensor refers to a grounded metal plate (ST37).
